Zanjutsu 101 (Cutting techniques)

Swordsmanship (Zanjutsu) is the most used form of combat among Shinigami, since their Zanpakutō is the most effective way of dispatching any given opponent. As the name suggests, it involves using a Zanpakutō and its various special abilities to attack an opponent. In addition to its basic form, each Zanpakutō has two enhanced forms: shikai (initial release) and bankai (final release), which change the sword's form to unlock its potential and that of its user.

You will be tested on various swordsmanship techniques, and be given assignments to report on within this thread. Only the assignments once completed will be posted here, questions and concerns must be taken through the proper channel (Q and A).

For the moment all Academy students whilst training amongst each other may only do so with Bokken swords (Wooden swords).

Those students nearing graduation will be taken by their seniors on a field trip to the human world; and as such will be given an Asochi sword (Simple katana with no spiritual charging). The reason for the Asochi sword is because of the threat increase of Hollow attacking within the human world.
